ANSWER: FOREIGN-BUILT ENTRANCE STRUCTURE THAT MUST BE SHIPPED FROM OSLO’S COUNTRY: A NORWAY DOORWAY.

Oslo

Capital of Norway • City on the Oslo Fjord

Overview

Oslo is the capital and largest city of Norway. Located at the head of the Oslo Fjord in southeastern Norway, it is the country’s principal center of government, business, culture, and transportation.

A Medieval City

Oslo’s history reaches back to the Middle Ages, with the city traditionally regarded as having been founded around 1050 by King Harald Hardrada. It grew into an important Norwegian center and became the country’s capital during the medieval period.

Oslo to Christiania & Back

After a devastating fire in 1624, King Christian IV ordered the city rebuilt closer to Akershus Fortress and renamed it Christiania. The spelling later became Kristiania, and in 1925 the historic name Oslo was officially restored.

The Oslo Fjord

Water and nature are defining parts of Oslo’s character. The city sits beside the Oslo Fjord and is surrounded by wooded hills, giving residents and visitors easy access to islands, forests, hiking trails, skiing, boating, and other outdoor activities.

Culture & Landmarks

Oslo is home to prominent attractions including the Royal Palace, Akershus Fortress, the Oslo Opera House, Vigeland Sculpture Park, and museums devoted to art, exploration, and Norwegian history. The city is also home to the MUNCH museum, which holds a major collection of works by Edvard Munch.

The Nobel Peace Prize

Oslo has a special connection to the Nobel Prizes. While most Nobel Prizes are presented in Stockholm, Sweden, the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo. The annual award ceremony is held at Oslo City Hall on December 10.
